2013 Toyota Avalon Greensboro
2013 Toyota Avalon Debuts at the New York International Auto Show
Toyota revealed a boldly-designed, all-new Avalon flagship sedan today at the New York International Auto Show, calling it “the beginning of a new era for vehicle development” in the United States for the American market.
“It’s an all-new premium mid-size sedan that will attract a wide range of buyers looking for style, technology, performance, comfort, safety and value,” said Bob Carter, Toyota Division group vice president and general manager. “With a unique slim upper grille and a large exotic lower grille, the Avalon conveys a new forward presence for Toyota.”
When the new model arrives in dealerships late this year, it will offer a modern, spacious interior highlighted by abundant rear seat legroom and more interior passenger space than the BMW 5 Series. There’s also an abundance of technology buyers want -- like capacitive touch sensor controls for climate settings and audio, full-color displays with intuitive color animations.
In addition, the new Avalon comes with 10 airbags believed to be among the most offered as a standard safety feature in the segment, and has an available pre-collision system, blind-spot monitor and a rear cross-traffic alert notification.
The all-new Avalon is the result of a North American-focused design and engineering effort. The sedan’s dramatic exterior and interior design was conceived by a youthful and talented team at Calty Design Research in Southern California and Michigan. The car’s engineering development was principally led by Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. And it will be assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky.
The 2013 Toyota Avalon will be at Rice Toyota in Greensboro NC late 2012. For more information email sales@ricetoyota.com or call us 336-288-1190. Rice Toyota sells new and used Toyota Avalons to customers living in the Greensboro, High Point, Winston Salem, Asheboro and Burlington areas.

2013 Scion FRS in Greensboro
We are already callings dibs on driving this Scion FR-S as a demo.
The FR-S, which stands for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport; is Scion’s definition of an authentic rear-wheel-drive sports car with exceptionally balanced performance and handling, compelling style, flexible utility and surprising MPG. The sports car is most inspired by the AE86 generation of the Corolla, better known as the Hachi-Roku, meaning “8-6” in Japanese. The front-engine, rear-wheel-drive coupe was lightweight and well balanced, making it a solid choice for driving enthusiasts.
The FR-S’s 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine is the result of a joint development between Toyota and Subaru. The partnership begins by combining Subaru’s newly developed horizontally opposed engine and Toyota’s cutting edge D-4S injection system that incorporates both direct and port injection. The D-4S system, partnered with a high 12.5:1 compression ratio, results in an impressive 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque.

The front emblem from the first passenger car (the model AA) which started mass production in 1937. This mark is composed of the wings to convey speed and kanji "Toyoda" which was made into a design. |
From "TOYODA" to "TOYOTA"
Toyota originated from the family name of the founder, "Toyoda", with early vehicles produced by the company originally sold with a "Toyoda" emblem. In 1936, the company ran a public competition to design a new logo, which lead to a change in the brand name to what is now called "Toyota".
